Isaiah 5:30

30They will growl over it on that day,
like the growling of the sea.
And if one looks to the land,
behold, adarkness and distress;
and the light is darkened by its clouds.

Jeremiah 4:15-20

Anguish over Judah’s Desolation

19 iMy anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain!
Oh the walls of my heart!
My heart is beating wildly;
I cannot keep silent,
for I hear the sound of the trumpet,
the alarm of war.
20 jCrash follows hard on crash;
the whole land is laid waste.
kSuddenly my tents are laid waste,
my curtains in a moment.

Jeremiah 6:23-24

23They lay hold on bow and javelin;
they are lcruel and have no mercy;
mthe sound of them is like the roaring sea;
they ride on horses,
set in array as a man for battle,
against you, O daughter of Zion!”
24We have heard the report of it;
nour hands fall helpless;
anguish has taken hold of us,
opain as of a woman in labor.

Jeremiah 8:19

19Behold, the cry of the daughter of my people
from pthe length and breadth of the land:
“Is the Lord not in Zion?
qIs her King not in her?”
r“Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images
and with their foreign idols?”

Jeremiah 9:19

19For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion:
sHow we are ruined!
We are utterly shamed,
because we have left the land,
because they have cast down our dwellings.’”

Jeremiah 25:36

36A voice—the cry tof the shepherds,
uand the wail of the lords of the flock!
For the Lord is laying waste their pasture,

Jeremiah 31:15-16

15 Thus says the Lord:
v“A voice is heard in wRamah,
lamentation and bitter weeping.
xRachel is weeping for her children;
she refuses to be comforted for her children,
ybecause they are no more.”
16 Thus says the Lord:
Keep your voice from weeping,
and your eyes from tears,
for there is a reward for your work,

declares the Lord,
and zthey shall come back from the land of the enemy.
