Isaiah 5:4

4 aWhat more was there to do for my vineyard,
that I have not done in it?
bWhen I looked for it to yield grapes,
why did it yield wild grapes?

Isaiah 5:7

7 cFor the vineyard of the Lord of hosts
is the house of Israel,
and the men of Judah
are his pleasant planting;
and he looked for justice,
but behold, bloodshed;
The Hebrew words for  justice and  bloodshed sound alike

for righteousness,
but behold, an outcry!
The Hebrew words for  righteous and  outcry sound alike

Jeremiah 24:8-10

8But thus says the Lord: Like fthe bad figs that are so bad they cannot be eaten, so will I treat gZedekiah the king of Judah, his officials, the remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who hdwell in the land of Egypt. 9I will make them ia horror
Compare Septuagint; Hebrew  horror for evil
to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be ka reproach, la byword, ma taunt, and na curse in all the places where I shall drive them.
10And I will send osword, famine, and pestilence upon them, until they shall be utterly destroyed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.”

Ezekiel 15:2-5

2 pSon of man, how does qthe wood of the vine surpass any wood, the vine branch that is among the trees of the forest? 3Is wood taken from it to make anything? Do people take ra peg from it to hang any vessel on it? 4 sBehold, it is given to the fire for fuel. When the fire has consumed both ends of it, and the middle of it is charred, is it useful for anything? 5 tBehold, when it was whole, it was used for nothing. How much less, when the fire has consumed it and it is charred, can it ever be used for anything!

Malachi 1:12-14

12But you profane it when you say that uthe Lord’s table is polluted, and its fruit, that is, its food may be despised. 13But you say, vWhat a weariness this is,’ and you snort at it, says the Lord of hosts. wYou bring what has been taken by violence or is lame or sick, and this you bring as your offering! Shall I accept that from your hand? says the Lord. 14Cursed be the cheat who has xa male in his flock, and yvows it, and yet sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished. For zI am a great King, says the Lord of hosts, and my name aawill be feared among the nations.

Matthew 5:13

Salt and Light

13You are the salt of the earth, abbut if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
