Isaiah 5:6

6 I will make it a waste;
it shall not be pruned or hoed,
and ^abriers and thorns shall grow up;

Jeremiah 17:5-6

5 Thus says the Lord:
“Cursed is the man ^cwho trusts in man
and makes flesh his strength, ^{▼▼Hebrew arm}
whose heart turns away from the Lord.
6 ^eHe is like a shrub in the desert,
^fand shall not see any good come.
He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness,
in ^gan uninhabited salt land.

Ezekiel 17:9-10

9 “Say, Thus says the Lord God: ^hWill it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, so that it withers, so that all its fresh sprouting leaves wither? It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it from its roots. 10 Behold, it is planted; will it thrive? ⁱWill it not utterly wither when the east wind strikes it—wither away on the bed where it sprouted?”

Ezekiel 17:24

24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; ^jI bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up ^kthe green tree, and make ^lthe dry tree flourish. ^mI am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.”

Matthew 21:19

19 ⁿAnd seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.
