9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, ^b‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from ^cthese stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Luke 3:8

8 Bear fruits ^din keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ^e‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from ^fthese stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Luke 16:24-25

24 And he called out, ^g‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and ^hcool my tongue, for ⁱI am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that ^jyou in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.

Luke 16:29-31

29 But Abraham said, ‘They have ^kMoses and the Prophets; ^llet them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, ^mfather Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear ⁿMoses and the Prophets, ^oneither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

John 8:33

33 They answered him, ^p“We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”

John 8:37-41

37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet ^qyou seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 ^rI speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard ^sfrom your father.”

You Are of Your Father the Devil

39 They answered him, ^t“Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, ^u“If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40 but now ^vyou seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth ^wthat I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, ^x“We were not born of sexual immorality. We have ^yone Father—even God.”

John 8:53

53 ^zAre you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?”

John 8:56
