Isaiah 53:2-12

2 For he grew up before him like a young plant,
^aand like a root out of dry ground;
^bhe had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
and no beauty that we should desire him.
3 ^cHe was despised and rejected ^{▼▼Or forsaken} by men,
a man of sorrows, ^{▼▼Or pains; also verse 4} and acquainted with ^{▼▼Or and knowing} grief; ^{▼▼Or sickness; also verse 4}
and as one from whom men hide their faces ^{▼▼Or as one who hides his face from us}
he was despised, and ⁱwe esteemed him not.
4 ^jSurely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
^ksmitten by God, and afflicted.
5 ^lBut he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
^mand with his wounds we are healed.
6 ⁿAll we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
^oand the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
^pyet he opened not his mouth;
^qlike a ^rlamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
and as for his generation, ^swho considered
that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people?
9 And they made his grave with the wicked
^tand with a rich man in his death,
although ^uhe had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet ^vit was the will of the Lord to crush him;
he has put him to grief; ^{▼▼Or he has made him sick}
^xwhen his soul makes ^{▼▼Or when you make his soul} an offering for guilt,
he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
^zthe will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see ^{▼▼Masoretic Text; Dead Sea Scroll he shall see light} and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall ^abthe righteous one, my servant,
^acmake many to be accounted righteous,
^adand he shall bear their iniquities.
12 ^aeTherefore I will divide him a portion with the many, ^{▼▼Or with the great}
^agand he shall divide the spoil with the strong, ^{▼▼Or with the numerous}
because he poured out his soul to death
and was numbered with the transgressors;
^aiyet he bore the sin of many,
and makes intercession for the transgressors.

Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 ^aj“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous ^akBranch, and ^alhe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and ^amIsrael will ^andwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ^ao‘The Lord is our righteousness.’
