Isaiah 53:4-6

4 aSurely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
bsmitten by God, and afflicted.
5 cBut he was pierced for our transgressions;

dand with his wounds we are healed.
6 eAll we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
fand the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

21For aato this you have been called, abbecause Christ also suffered for you, acleaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 adHe committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 aeWhen he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, afbut continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 agHe himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we ahmight die to sin and ailive to righteousness. ajBy his wounds you have been healed.
