7 ^aFor a brief moment I deserted you,
but with great compassion I will gather you.
8 ^bIn overflowing anger for a moment
I hid my face from you,
^cbut with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,”
says the Lord, your Redeemer.
9 “This is like ^dthe days of Noah ^{▼▼Some manuscripts For this is as the waters of Noah} to me:
as I swore that the waters of Noah
should no more go over the earth,
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you,
and will not rebuke you.
10 For the mountains may depart
and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and ^fmy covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Judas Hangs Himself

3 Then when ^gJudas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus ^{▼▼Greek he} was condemned, ⁱhe changed his mind and brought back ^jthe thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? ^kSee to it yourself.” 5 And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, ^lhe departed, and he went and hanged himself. 6 But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into ^mthe treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they took counsel and bought with them the potter’s field as a burial place for strangers. 8 Therefore ⁿthat field has been called the Field of Blood ^oto this day. 9 ^pThen was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, ^q“And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, 10 and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”
