7let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Jeremiah 42:19-22

Ezekiel 14:1-6

Idolatrous Elders Condemned

1Then certain of the helders of Israel came to me iand sat before me. 2And the word of the Lord came to me: 3 jSon of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set kthe stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. lShould I indeed let myself be consulted by them? 4Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Any one of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and sets the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to the prophet, mI the Lord will answer him as he comes with the multitude of his idols, 5 nthat I may lay hold of the hearts of the house of Israel, owho are all estranged from me through their idols.

6Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: pRepent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

Ezekiel 18:30-32

30Therefore qI will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. rRepent and turn from all your transgressions, slest iniquity be your ruin.
Or lest iniquity be your stumbling block
31 uCast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and vmake yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! wWhy will you die, O house of Israel? 32 xFor I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; yso turn, and live.”

Acts 2:37-38

37Now when zthey heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, aawhat shall we do?” 38And Peter said to them, abRepent and acbe baptized every one of you adin the name of Jesus Christ aefor the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive afthe gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 17:19-20
