7let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Matthew 3:8

8Bear fruit ain keeping with repentance.

Luke 3:8-14

8Bear fruits bin keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, c‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from dthese stones to raise up children for Abraham. 9Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. eEvery tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

10And the crowds asked him, fWhat then shall we do?” 11And he answered them, g“Whoever has two tunics
Greek chiton, a long garment worn under the cloak next to the skin
is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
12 iTax collectors also came to be baptized and said to him, “Teacher, jwhat shall we do?” 13And he said to them, kCollect no more than you are authorized to do.” 14Soldiers also asked him, “And we, lwhat shall we do?” And he said to them, m“Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your nwages.”

Luke 19:8-9

8And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods oI give to the poor. And if I have pdefrauded anyone of anything, I restore it qfourfold.” 9And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, since rhe also is a son of Abraham.

Ephesians 4:17-32

The New Life

17Now this I say and stestify in the Lord, tthat you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, uin the futility of their minds. 18They vare darkened in their understanding, walienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to xtheir hardness of heart. 19They yhave become callous and zhave given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20But that is not the way you aalearned Christ!— 21assuming that abyou have heard about him and acwere taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22to adput off aeyour old self,
Greek man; also verse 24
which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through agdeceitful desires,
23and ahto be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24and to put on aithe new self, ajcreated after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

25Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you akspeak the truth with his neighbor, for alwe are members one of another. 26 amBe angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27and angive no opportunity to the devil. 28Let the thief no longer steal, but rather aolet him labor, apdoing honest work with his own hands, so aqthat he may have something to share with anyone in need. 29 arLet no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give asgrace to those who hear. 30And atdo not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, auby whom you were sealed for the day of avredemption. 31 awLet all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 axBe kind to one another, tenderhearted, ayforgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 5:1-25

Walk in Love

1 azTherefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2And bawalk in love, bbas Christ loved us and bcgave himself up for us, a bdfragrant beoffering and sacrifice to God.

3But bfsexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness bgmust not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 4Let there be bhno filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, biwhich are out of place, but instead bjlet there be thanksgiving. 5For you may be sure of this, that bkeveryone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous ( blthat is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 bmLet no one bndeceive you with empty words, for because of these things bothe wrath of God comes upon bpthe sons of disobedience. 7Therefore bqdo not become partners with them; 8for brat one time you were bsdarkness, but now you are light in the Lord. btWalk as children of light 9(for buthe fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10and bvtry to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 bwTake no part in the bxunfruitful byworks of darkness, but instead bzexpose them. 12For cait is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. 13But when cbanything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,

ccAwake, O sleeper,
and cdarise from the dead,
and ceChrist will shine on you.”
15 cfLook carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 cgmaking the best use of the time, because chthe days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what cithe will of the Lord is. 18And cjdo not get drunk with wine, for that is ckdebauchery, but clbe filled with the Spirit, 19addressing one another in cmpsalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 cngiving thanks always and for everything to God the Father coin the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 cpsubmitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Wives and Husbands

22 cqWives, crsubmit to your own husbands, csas to the Lord. 23For ctthe husband is the head of the wife even as cuChrist is the head of the church, his body, and is cvhimself its Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit cwin everything to their husbands.

25 cxHusbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and cygave himself up for her,

Ephesians 6:1-9

Children and Parents

1 czChildren, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 daHonor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, dbbut bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Bondservants and Masters

5 dcBondservants,
Or slaves; also verse 6 (for the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface)
obey your earthly masters
Or  your masters according to the flesh
with fear and trembling, dfwith a sincere heart, dgas you would Christ,
6not by the way of eye-service, as dhpeople-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8 diknowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, djwhether he is a bondservant
Or slave (for the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface)
or is free.
9Masters, do the same to them, dland stop your threatening, knowing that dmhe who is both their Master
Greek Lord
and yours is in heaven, and that dothere is no partiality with him.
