Isaiah 61:1-3

The Year of the Lord’s Favor

1 cThe Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has danointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
Or afflicted

he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and fthe opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Or  the opening [of the eyes] to those who are blind; Septuagint  and recovery of sight to the blind

2 hto proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
iand the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
3to grant to those who mourn in Zion
jto give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
kthe oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
lthat they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, mthat he may be glorified.
Or  that he may display his beauty

18I have heard aaEphraim grieving,
‘You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined,
like an untrained calf;
abbring me back that I may be restored,
for you are the Lord my God.
19For after acI had turned away, I relented,
and after I was instructed, adI struck my thigh;
aeI was ashamed, and I was confounded,
because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’
20 afIs Ephraim my dear son?
agIs he my darling child?
For as often as I speak against him,
I do remember him still.
ahTherefore my heart
Hebrew bowels
yearns for him;
I will surely have mercy on him,

declares the Lord.
