Isaiah 58:1

True and False Fasting

1 Cry aloud; do not hold back;
alift up your voice like a trumpet;
bdeclare to my people their transgression,
to the house of Jacob their sins.

Jeremiah 1:7-10

7But the Lord said to me,

“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and cwhatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 dDo not be afraid of them,
efor I am with you to deliver you,

declares the Lord.”
9 fThen the Lord put out his hand and gtouched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

Behold, I have put hmy words in your mouth.
10See, I have set you this day iover nations and over kingdoms,
jto pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

Ezekiel 2:7

7And you shall speak my words to them, kwhether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house.

Ezekiel 3:5-9

5For you are not sent to a people of foreign speech and a hard language, but to the house of Israel 6not to many peoples of foreign speech and a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. lSurely, if I sent you to such, they would listen to you. 7 mBut the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel nhave a hard forehead and a stubborn heart. 8 oBehold, I have made your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. 9Like pemery harder than flint have I made your forehead. qFear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.”

Jonah 3:2
