Isaiah 59:2-3

2 abut your iniquities have made a separation
between you and your God,
and your sins have hidden his face from you
so that he does not hear.
3 bFor your hands are defiled with blood
and your fingers with iniquity;
your lips have spoken lies;
your tongue mutters wickedness.

Jeremiah 7:8-10

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 cWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, dswear falsely, emake offerings to Baal, fand go after other gods that you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, gwhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations?

Micah 3:9-11

9 hHear this, you heads of the house of Jacob
and rulers of the house of Israel,
iwho detest justice
and make crooked all that is straight,
10 jwho build Zion with blood
and Jerusalem with iniquity.
11 kIts heads give judgment for a bribe;
lits priests teach for a price;
mits prophets practice divination for money;
nyet they lean on the Lord and osay,
“Is not the Lord in the midst of us?
pNo disaster shall come upon us.”
