Amos 4:6-12

Israel Has Not Returned to the Lord

6 “I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities,
and glack of bread in all your places,
hyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
7 I also iwithheld the rain from you
when there were yet three months to the harvest;
jI would send rain on one city,
and send no rain on another city;
one field would have rain,
and the field on which it did not rain would wither;
8so two or three cities kwould wander to another city
to drink water, and would not be satisfied;
lyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
9 m“I struck you with blight and mildew;
your many gardens and your vineyards,
your fig trees and your olive trees nthe locust devoured;
oyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
10 “I sent among you a pestilence pafter the manner of Egypt;
I killed your young men with the sword,
and qcarried away your horses,
Hebrew along with the captivity of your horses

and sI made the stench of your camp go up into your nostrils;
tyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
11 “I overthrew some of you,
uas when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
and you were vas a brand
That is,  a burning stick
plucked out of the burning;
xyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
12 Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel;
because I will do this to you,
prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”

Acts 28:26-27

26 an“‘Go to this people, and say,
ao“You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.”
27 apFor this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed;
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart
and aqturn, and I would heal them.’
