Isaiah 6:11

11Then I said, a“How long, O Lord?”
And he said:
Until bcities lie waste
without inhabitant,
and houses without people,
and the land is a desolate waste,

Isaiah 24:3-12

3 cThe earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered;
dfor the Lord has spoken this word.
4 eThe earth mourns and withers;
the world languishes and withers;
the highest people of the earth languish.
5The earth lies fdefiled
under its inhabitants;
for gthey have transgressed the laws,
violated the statutes,
broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore ha curse devours the earth,
and its inhabitants isuffer for their guilt;
therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched,
and few men are left.
7 jThe wine mourns,
the vine languishes,
all the merry-hearted sigh.
8 kThe mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9No more do they drink wine lwith singing;
strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10 mThe wasted city is broken down;
nevery house is shut up so that none can enter.
11 oThere is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;
pall joy has grown dark;
the gladness of the earth is banished.
12Desolation is left in the city;
the gates are battered into ruins.

Jeremiah 25:10-11

10Moreover, qI will banish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, rthe grinding of the millstones and sthe light of the lamp. 11 tThis whole land shall become a ruin and a waste, and uthese nations shall serve the king of Babylon vseventy years.

Ezekiel 6:14

14And wI will stretch out my hand against them and xmake the land desolate and waste, yin all their dwelling places, from the wilderness to zRiblah.
Some Hebrew manuscripts; most Hebrew manuscripts Diblah
Then abthey will know that I am the Lord.”

Ezekiel 14:13-21

13 acSon of man, when a land sins against me adby acting faithlessly, and I stretch out my hand against it and aebreak its supply
Hebrew staff
of bread and send famine upon it, and agcut off from it man and beast,
14 aheven if these three men, aiNoah, ajDaniel, and akJob, were in it, althey would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Lord God.

15 amIf I cause wild beasts to pass through the land, and they ravage it, anand it be made desolate, so that no one may pass through because of the beasts, 16even if these three men were in it, aoas I live, declares the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters. They alone would be delivered, but apthe land would be desolate.

17Or aqif I bring a sword upon that land and say, Let a sword pass through the land, arand I cut off from it man and beast, 18 asthough these three men were in it, as I live, declares the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they alone would be delivered.

19Or atif I send a pestilence into that land and pour out my wrath upon it with blood, to cut off from it man and beast, 20even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, declares the Lord God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter. They would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness.

21For thus says the Lord God: How much more auwhen I send upon Jerusalem my four disastrous acts of judgment, avsword, awfamine, axwild beasts, and aypestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!

Ezekiel 33:29

29 azThen they will know that I am the Lord, when I have made the land a desolation and a waste because of all their abominations that they have committed.

Zephaniah 1:18

18 baNeither their silver nor their gold
shall be able to deliver them
on the day of the wrath of the Lord.
bbIn the fire of his jealousy,
bcall the earth shall be consumed;
bdfor a full and sudden end
he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth.
