Isaiah 6:11-13

11Then I said, a“How long, O Lord?”
And he said:
Until bcities lie waste
without inhabitant,
and houses without people,
and the land is a desolate waste,
12and the Lord removes people far away,
and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.
13 cAnd though a tenth remain in it,
it will be burned
Or purged
again,
like a terebinth or an oak,
whose stump eremains
when it is felled.”
fThe holy seed
Or offspring
is its stump.

Isaiah 7:16-20

16 hFor before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be ideserted. 17 jThe Lord will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that kEphraim departed from Judah—the king of Assyria!”

18In that day the Lord will lwhistle for the fly that is at the end of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19And they will all come and settle in the steep ravines, and min the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes, and on all the pastures.
Or watering holes, or brambles

20In that day othe Lord will pshave with a razor that is qhired beyond rthe River—with the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

Isaiah 9:9-12

9and all the people will know,
sEphraim and the inhabitants of Samaria,
who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:
10“The bricks have fallen,
but we will build with dressed stones;
the sycamores have been cut down,
but we will put cedars in their place.”
11But the Lord raises the adversaries of Rezin against him,
and stirs up his enemies.
12 tThe Syrians on the east and uthe Philistines on the west
devour Israel with open mouth.
vFor all this his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 17:4-5

4 And in that day wthe glory of Jacob will be brought low,
and xthe fat of his flesh will grow lean.
5And it shall be yas when the reaper gathers standing grain
and his arm harvests the ears,
and as when one gleans the ears of grain
in zthe Valley of Rephaim.

Isaiah 24:1-12

Judgment on the Whole Earth

1 Behold, aathe Lord will empty the earth
Or land; also throughout this chapter
and make it desolate,
and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.
2 acAnd it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest;
as with the slave, so with his master;
as with the maid, so with her mistress;
adas with the buyer, so with the seller;
as with the lender, so with the borrower;
aeas with the creditor, so with the debtor.
3 afThe earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered;
agfor the Lord has spoken this word.
4 ahThe earth mourns and withers;
the world languishes and withers;
the highest people of the earth languish.
5The earth lies aidefiled
under its inhabitants;
for ajthey have transgressed the laws,
violated the statutes,
broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore aka curse devours the earth,
and its inhabitants alsuffer for their guilt;
therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched,
and few men are left.
7 amThe wine mourns,
the vine languishes,
all the merry-hearted sigh.
8 anThe mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9No more do they drink wine aowith singing;
strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10 apThe wasted city is broken down;
aqevery house is shut up so that none can enter.
11 arThere is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;
asall joy has grown dark;
the gladness of the earth is banished.
12Desolation is left in the city;
the gates are battered into ruins.

Isaiah 27:10

10 atFor the fortified city is solitary,
a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness;
there the calf grazes;
there it lies down and strips its branches.

Isaiah 28:1-4

Judgment on Ephraim and Jerusalem

1 Ah, the proud crown of authe drunkards of Ephraim,
and the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine!
2Behold, the Lord has avone who is mighty and strong;
like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest,
like awa storm of mighty, overflowing waters,
he casts down to the earth with his hand.
3 axThe proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim
will be trodden underfoot;
4 ayand the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
which is on the head of the rich valley,
will be like aza first-ripe fig before the summer:
when someone sees it, he swallows it
as soon as it is in his hand.

Hosea 10:14

14therefore bathe tumult of war shall arise among your people,
and all your fortresses shall be destroyed,
as bbShalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle;
bcmothers were dashed in pieces with their children.
