Isaiah 61:1

The Year of the Lord’s Favor

1 aThe Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has banointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
Or afflicted

he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and dthe opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Or  the opening [of the eyes] to those who are blind; Septuagint  and recovery of sight to the blind

Luke 4:18

18 f“The Spirit of the Lord gis upon me,
because he has anointed me
to hproclaim good news to the poor.
iHe has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and jrecovering of sight to the blind,
kto set at liberty those who are oppressed,

John 8:32-36

32and you will lknow the truth, and the truth mwill set you free.” 33They answered him, n“We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”

34Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, oeveryone who practices sin is a slave
Greek bondservant; also verse 35
to sin.
35 qThe slave does not remain in the house forever; rthe son remains forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Romans 6:18-22

18and, shaving been set free from sin, thave become slaves of righteousness. 19 uI am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For vjust as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members was slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

20 xFor when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 yBut what fruit were you getting at that time from the things zof which you are now ashamed? aaFor the end of those things is death. 22But now that you abhave been set free from sin and achave become slaves of God, adthe fruit you get leads to sanctification and aeits end, eternal life.

Galatians 4:5-7

5 afto redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive agadoption as sons. 6And because you are sons, God has sent ahthe Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then aian heir through God.

Galatians 4:22-31

22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, ajone by a slave woman and akone by a free woman. 23But althe son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while amthe son of the free woman was born through promise. 24Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two ancovenants. aoOne is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;
Some manuscripts For Sinai is a mountain in Arabia
she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
26But aqthe Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. 27For it is written,

arRejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”
28Now you,
Some manuscripts we
brothers, atlike Isaac, auare children of promise.
29But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh avpersecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, awso also it is now. 30But what does the Scripture say? ax“Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but ayof the free woman.
