Isaiah 61:3

3to grant to those who mourn in Zion
ato give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
bthe oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
cthat they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, dthat he may be glorified.
Or  that he may display his beauty

Jeremiah 31:9

9 fWith weeping they shall come,
gand with pleas for mercy I will lead them back,
I will make them hwalk by brooks of water,
iin a straight path in which they shall not stumble,
for jI am a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is kmy firstborn.

Jeremiah 31:18-20

18I have heard lEphraim grieving,
‘You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined,
like an untrained calf;
mbring me back that I may be restored,
for you are the Lord my God.
19For after nI had turned away, I relented,
and after I was instructed, oI struck my thigh;
pI was ashamed, and I was confounded,
because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’
20 qIs Ephraim my dear son?
rIs he my darling child?
For as often as I speak against him,
I do remember him still.
sTherefore my heart
Hebrew bowels
yearns for him;
I will surely have mercy on him,

declares the Lord.

Joel 2:12

12 “Yet even now,” declares the Lord,
ureturn to me with all your heart,
vwith fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;

Zechariah 12:10

Him Whom They Have Pierced

10“And wI will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and xpleas for mercy, so that, ywhen they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, zthey shall mourn for him, aaas one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

Matthew 5:4

4Blessed are abthose who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

2 Corinthians 7:10-11

10For acgodly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas adworldly grief produces death. 11For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, aewhat zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter.
