And from them cI will send survivors to the nations, to dTarshish, ePul, and fLud, who draw the bow, to gTubal and hJavan, ito the coastlands far away, jthat have not heard my fame or seen my glory. And they shall declare my glory among the nations. 20 kAnd they shall bring all your brothers from all the nations las an offering to the Lord, on horses and in chariots and in litters and on mules and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, just as the Israelites bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord. 21 mAnd some of them also I will take for priests and for Levites, says the Lord.

18 nand the Levitical priests shall never lack a man in my presence to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices forever.”

19The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 20 oThus says the Lord: pIf you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, qso that day and night will not come at their appointed time, 21 rthen also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. 22As sthe host of heaven cannot be numbered and tthe sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.”

The Priests’ Polluted Offerings

6 ab“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am aca father, where is my honor? And if I am ada master, where is my fear? says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. aeBut you say, ‘How have we despised your name?’ 7 afBy offering polluted food upon my altar. agBut you say, ‘How have we polluted you?’ By saying that ahthe Lord’s table may be despised. 8 aiWhen you offer blind animals in sacrifice, is that not evil? And when you offer those that are lame or sick, is that not evil? Present that to your governor; will he accept you or show you favor? says the Lord of hosts. 9And now ajentreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us. With such a gift from your hand, akwill he show favor to any of you? says the Lord of hosts. 10 alOh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, amand I will not accept an offering from your hand.

Malachi 2:1-8
