Isaiah 66:1-6

The Humble and Contrite in Spirit

1 aThus says the Lord:
bHeaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool;
what is the house that you would build for me,
and what is the place of my rest?
2 cAll these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.
dBut this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word.
3 e“He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man;
he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
he who presents a grain offering, like one who offers fpig’s blood;
he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like one who blesses an idol.
gThese have chosen their own ways,
and their soul delights in their abominations;
4 hI also will choose harsh treatment for them
and bring itheir fears upon them,
jbecause when I called, no one answered,
when I spoke, they did not listen;
kbut they did what was evil in my eyes
and chose that in which I did not delight.”
5 Hear the word of the Lord,
you who tremble at his word:
“Your brothers who hate you
and cast you out for my name’s sake
have said, l‘Let the Lord be glorified,
that we may see your joy’;
but it is they who shall be put to shame.
6 “The sound of an uproar from the city!
A sound from the temple!
The sound of the Lord,
mrendering recompense to his enemies!

Jeremiah 7:4-14

4 nDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5For if you truly oamend your ways and your deeds, if you truly pexecute justice one with another, 6if you qdo not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, ror shed innocent blood in this place, sand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 tthen I will let you dwell in this place, uin the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 vWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, wswear falsely, xmake offerings to Baal, yand go after other gods that you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, zwhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 aaHas this house, abwhich is called by my name, acbecome a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord. 12Go now to admy place that was in Shiloh, aewhere I made my name dwell at first, and afsee what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel. 13And now, because you have done all these things, declares the Lord, and agwhen I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and ahwhen I called you, you did not answer, 14therefore I will do to aithe house ajthat is called by my name, and in which you trust, and to the place that I gave to you and to your fathers, akas I did to Shiloh.

Jeremiah 26:6-9

6then I will make this house allike Shiloh, and I will make this city ama curse for all the nations of the earth.’”

7 anThe priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord. 8And when Jeremiah had finished speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, then aothe priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold of him, saying, “You shall die! 9Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘This house shall be aplike Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, aqwithout inhabitant’?” And all the people gathered around Jeremiah in the house of the Lord.

Jeremiah 26:12

12Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and all the people, saying, “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the words you have heard.

Jeremiah 26:18

18Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and said to all the people of Judah: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts,

ar“‘Zion shall be plowed as a field;
Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins,
and the mountain of the house a wooded height.’

Daniel 9:26

26And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall asbe cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come atshall destroy the city and the sanctuary. auIts
Or His
end shall come with a flood, awand to the end there shall be war. axDesolations are decreed.

Micah 3:12

12Therefore because of you
ayZion shall be plowed as a field;
Jerusalem azshall become a heap of ruins,
and bathe mountain of the house bba wooded height.
