13 The people ^adid not turn to him who struck them,
nor inquire of the Lord of hosts.
14 So the Lord cut off from Israel ^bhead and tail,
palm branch and reed in one day—
15 ^cthe elder and honored man is the head,
and ^dthe prophet who teaches lies is the tail;
16 for those who guide this people have been leading them astray,
and those who are guided by them are swallowed up.
17 Therefore the Lord does not ^erejoice over their young men,
and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows;
for everyone is ^fgodless and an evildoer,
and every mouth speaks ^gfolly. ^{▼▼Or speaks disgraceful things}
ⁱFor all this his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is stretched out still.

Jeremiah 6:4-5

4 ^j“Prepare war against her;
arise, and let us attack ^kat noon!
Woe to us, for the day declines,
for the shadows of evening lengthen!
5 Arise, and let us attack by night
and destroy her palaces!”

Jeremiah 6:12-15

12 ^lTheir houses shall be turned over to others,
their fields and wives together,
for I will stretch out my hand
against the inhabitants of the land,”

declares the Lord.
13 ^m“For from the least to the greatest of them,
everyone ⁿis greedy for unjust gain;
and from ^oprophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
14 They have healed the wound of my people lightly,
saying, ^p‘Peace, peace,’
^qwhen there is no peace.
15 ^rWere they ashamed when they committed abomination?
No, they were not at all ashamed;
they did not know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among those who fall;
^sat the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,”

says the Lord.

Jeremiah 8:10-12

10 ^tTherefore I will give their wives to others
and their fields to conquerors,

For I will pour out their evil upon them.

Hosea 9:7-8

7 ^acThe days of punishment have come;
the days of recompense have come;
Israel shall know it.
^adThe prophet is a fool;
the man of the spirit is mad,
because of your great iniquity
and great hatred.
8 The prophet is ^aethe watchman of Ephraim with my God;
yet ^afa fowler’s snare is on all his ways,
and hatred in the house of his God.
