Isaiah 9:15-16

15 athe elder and honored man is the head,
and bthe prophet who teaches lies is the tail;
16for those who guide this people have been leading them astray,
and those who are guided by them are swallowed up.

Jeremiah 2:8

8The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
cThose who handle the law did not know me;
dthe shepherds
Or rulers
transgressed against me;
fthe prophets prophesied by Baal
and went after gthings that do not profit.

Jeremiah 5:31

31 hthe prophets prophesy falsely,
and the priests rule at their direction;
imy people love to have it so,
but what will you do when the end comes?

Jeremiah 6:13-14

13 jFor from the least to the greatest of them,
everyone kis greedy for unjust gain;
and from lprophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.

nwhen there is no peace.

Jeremiah 14:13-15

Lying Prophets

13Then I said: “Ah, Lord God, behold, the prophets rsay to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.’” 14And the Lord said to me: “The sprophets are prophesying lies in my name. tI did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, uworthless divination, and vthe deceit of their own minds. 15Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name although wI did not send them, and who say, xSword and famine shall not come upon this land’: yBy sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed.

Jeremiah 23:11-17

11 zBoth prophet and priest are ungodly;
even aain my house I have found their evil,

declares the Lord.
12 abTherefore their way shall be to them
like slippery paths acin the darkness,
into which they shall be driven and fall,
for I will bring disaster upon them
adin the year of their punishment,

declares the Lord.
13In the prophets of aeSamaria
afI saw an unsavory thing:
agthey prophesied by Baal
ahand led my people Israel astray.
14But in the prophets of Jerusalem
I have seen a horrible thing:
aithey commit adultery and walk in lies;
ajthey strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that no one turns from his evil;
akall of them have become like Sodom to me,
aland its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”
15Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets:
amBehold, I will feed them with bitter food
anand give them aopoisoned water to drink,
for from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”
16Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, apfilling you with vain hopes. aqThey speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. 17They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, ar‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who asstubbornly follows his own heart, they say, atNo disaster shall come upon you.’”
