7 Of the increase of his government and of peace

on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
^mwith justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
ⁿThe zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Isaiah 11:1-10

The Righteous Reign of the Branch

1 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of ^oJesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
2 And ^pthe Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
^qHe shall not judge by ^rwhat his eyes see,
or decide disputes by ^swhat his ears hear,
4 but ^twith righteousness he shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
and he shall ^ustrike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and ^vwith the breath of his lips ^whe shall kill the wicked.
5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,
and ^xfaithfulness the belt of his loins.
6 ^yThe wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
and a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den.
9 ^zThey shall not hurt or destroy
in all ^aamy holy mountain;
^abfor the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
10 In that day ^acthe root of ^adJesse, who shall stand as ^aea signal for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious.

Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 ^af“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous ^agBranch, and ^ahhe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and ^aiIsrael will ^ajdwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ^ak‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

9 But they shall serve the Lord their God and ^alDavid their king, whom I will raise up for them.

Jeremiah 33:14-16

The Lord’s Eternal Covenant with David

14 ^am“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when ^anI will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous ^aoBranch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 16 In those days Judah will be saved, ^apand Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ^aq‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

Jeremiah 33:20-26

20 ^ar“Thus says the Lord: ^asIf you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, ^atso that day and night will not come at their appointed time, 21 ^authen also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. 22 As ^avthe host of heaven cannot be numbered and ^awthe sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.”

23 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 24 “Have you not observed that these people are saying, ‘The Lord has rejected the two clans that he chose’? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight. 25 Thus says the Lord: ^axIf I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed order of heaven and earth, 26 then I will reject the offspring of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his offspring to rule over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. ^ayFor I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.”

Ezekiel 17:24

24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; ^azI bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up ^bathe green tree, and make ^bbthe dry tree flourish. ^bcI am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.”
