Isaiah 9:9-12

9 and all the people will know,
^aEphraim and the inhabitants of Samaria,
who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:
10 “The bricks have fallen,
but we will build with dressed stones;
the sycamores have been cut down,
but we will put cedars in their place.”
11 But the Lord raises the adversaries of Rezin against him,
and stirs up his enemies.
12 ^bThe Syrians on the east and ^cthe Philistines on the west
devour Israel with open mouth.
^dFor all this his anger has not turned away,
and his hand is stretched out still.

The Redemption of Israel

1 In that day the Lord with his hard and great and strong ^esword will punish ^fLeviathan the fleeing serpent, ^gLeviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay ^hthe dragon that is in the sea.

Ezekiel 30:10-11

10 “Thus says the Lord God:

ⁱ“I will put an end to the wealth of Egypt,
