1 Peter 3:8-11

Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake

8 Finally, all of you, ^hhave unity of mind, sympathy, ⁱbrotherly love, ^ja tender heart, and ^ka humble mind. 9 ^lDo not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, ^mbless, for ⁿto this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. 10 For

and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
11 let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.

2 Peter 1:5-8

5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith ^pwith virtue, ^{▼▼Or excellence; twice in this verse} and virtue ^rwith knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control ^swith steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness ^twith brotherly affection, and brotherly affection ^uwith love. 8 For if these qualities ^{▼▼Greek these things; also verses 9, 10, 12} are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or ^wunfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 3:14-20

14 We know that ^xwe have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. 15 ^yEveryone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that ^zno murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

16 By this we know love, that ^aahe laid down his life for us, and ^abwe ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But ^acif anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet ^adcloses his heart against him, ^aehow does God’s love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not ^aflove in word or talk but in deed and ^agin truth.

19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; 20 for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
