James 4:1-3

Warning Against Worldliness

1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions ^{▼▼Greek pleasures; also verse 3} are ^bat war within you? ^{▼▼Greek in your members} 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask ^dwrongly, to spend it on your passions.

1 Peter 1:14

14 As obedient children, ^edo not be conformed to the passions ^fof your former ignorance,

1 Peter 2:11

11 Beloved, I urge you ^gas sojourners and exiles ^hto abstain from the passions of the flesh, ⁱwhich wage war against your soul.

1 Peter 4:2

2 ^jso as to live for ^kthe rest of the time in the flesh ^lno longer for human passions but ^mfor the will of God.

2 Peter 2:18

18 For, ⁿspeaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely ^oescaping from those who live in error.

1 John 2:16

Jude 16-18

16 These are grumblers, malcontents, ^sfollowing their own sinful desires; ^tthey are loud-mouthed boasters, ^ushowing favoritism to gain advantage.

A Call to Persevere

17 But you must ^vremember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They ^{▼▼Or Christ, because they} said to you, ^x“In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”
