Jeremiah 1:18

18And I, behold, I make you this day aa fortified city, ban iron pillar, and cbronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.

Ezekiel 3:8-9

8 dBehold, I have made your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. 9Like eemery harder than flint have I made your forehead. fFear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.”

Matthew 23:13-36

13But woe gto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you hshut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you ineither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.
Some manuscripts add here (or after verse 12) verse 14: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single kproselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a lchild of mhell
Greek Gehenna; also verse 33
as yourselves.

16Woe to oyou, pblind guides, who say, qIf anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or rthe temple that has made the gold sacred? 18And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by sthe gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ 19You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or tthe altar that makes the gift sacred? 20So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by uhim who dwells in it. 22And whoever swears by vheaven swears by wthe throne of God and by xhim who sits upon it.

23 yWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For zyou tithe mint and dill and aacumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: abjustice and mercy and faithfulness. acThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing ada camel!

25 aeWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For afyou clean the outside of agthe cup and the plate, but inside they are full of ahgreed and self-indulgence. 26You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of aithe cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

27 ajWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like akwhitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and alall uncleanness. 28So you also amoutwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of anhypocrisy and lawlessness.

29 aoWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, 30saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31Thus you witness against yourselves that you are apsons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 aqFill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33You serpents, aryou brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to ashell? 34 atTherefore auI send you avprophets and wise men and awscribes, axsome of whom you will kill and crucify, and aysome you will azflog in your synagogues and bapersecute from town to town, 35so that on you may come all bbthe righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous bcAbel to the blood of bdZechariah the son of Barachiah,
Some manuscripts omit  the son of Barachiah
whom you murdered between bfthe sanctuary and bgthe altar.
36Truly, I say to you, bhall these things will come upon this generation.

Luke 9:51

A Samaritan Village Rejects Jesus

51When the days drew near for bihim to be taken up, bjhe set his face bkto go to Jerusalem.

Luke 11:39-54

39And the Lord said to him, blNow you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of bmgreed and wickedness. 40 bnYou fools! boDid not he who made the outside make the inside also? 41But bpgive as alms those things that are within, and behold, bqeverything is clean for you.

42 brBut woe to you Pharisees! For bsyou tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect btjustice and buthe love of God. bvThese you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 43Woe to you Pharisees! For bwyou love the best seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. 44Woe to you! bxFor you are like unmarked graves, and people walk over them without knowing it.”

45One of bythe lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying these things you insult us also.” 46And he said, Woe to you bzlawyers also! For cayou load people with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 cbWoe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets whom your fathers killed. 48 ccSo you are witnesses and you cdconsent to the deeds of ceyour fathers, for they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49Therefore also cfthe Wisdom of God said, cg‘I will send them chprophets and apostles, cisome of whom they will cjkill and persecute,’ 50so that ckthe blood of all the prophets, shed clfrom the foundation of the world, may be cmcharged against this generation, 51from the blood of cnAbel to the blood of coZechariah, who perished between cpthe altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it will be cqrequired of this generation. 52Woe to you crlawyers! csFor you have taken away the key of ctknowledge. You cudid not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.”

53As he went away from there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him hard and to provoke him to speak about many things, 54 cvlying in wait for him, cwto catch him in something he might say.
