Jeremiah 12:3-4

3 aBut you, O Lord, know me;
byou see me, and test my heart toward you.
cPull them out like sheep for the slaughter,
and set them apart for dthe day of slaughter.
4 eHow long will the land mourn
and the grass of every field wither?
fFor the evil of those who dwell in it
gthe beasts and the birds are swept away,
because they said, “He will not see our latter end.”

Jeremiah 14:2

2 hJudah mourns,
and iher gates languish;
her people lament on the ground,
and jthe cry of Jerusalem goes up.

Lamentations 1:2-4

2 kShe weeps bitterly in the night,
with tears on her cheeks;
lamong all her lovers
she has mnone to comfort her;
nall her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
they have become her enemies.
3 oJudah has gone into exile because of affliction
and hard servitude;
pshe dwells now among the nations,
qbut finds no resting place;
her pursuers have all overtaken her
in the midst of her distress.
Or  in the narrow passes

4 The roads to Zion mourn,
for none come to sthe festival;
tall her gates are desolate;
her priests ugroan;
her virgins have been afflicted,
Septuagint, Old Latin dragged away

and she herself suffers bitterly.

Joel 1:10

10The fields are destroyed,
wthe ground mourns,
because xthe grain is destroyed,
ythe wine dries up,
the oil languishes.
