Jeremiah 15:8

8I have made their widows more in number
than athe sand of the seas;
I have brought against the mothers of young men
a destroyer at noonday;
I have made anguish and terror
fall upon them suddenly.

Jeremiah 23:9

Lying Prophets

9Concerning the prophets:

bMy heart is broken within me;
call my bones shake;
I am like a drunken man,
like a man overcome by wine,
because of the Lord
and because of his holy words.

Ezekiel 13:9-16

9My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, dnor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, enor shall they enter the land of Israel. fAnd you shall know that I am the Lord God. 10Precisely because they have misled my people, gsaying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, hthese prophets smear it with whitewash,
Or plaster; also verses 11, 14, 15
11say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall! jThere will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out. 12And when the wall falls, will it not be said to you, ‘Where is the coating with which you smeared it?’ 13Therefore thus says the Lord God: kI will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath, land there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to make a full end. 14And I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, mand you shall know that I am the Lord. 15Thus will I spend my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have smeared it with whitewash, and I will say to you, The wall is no more, nor those who smeared it, 16the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem nand saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 14:8-10

8And oI will set my face against that man; I pwill make him a sign and a byword qand cut him off from the midst of my people, rand you shall know that I am the Lord. 9And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, sI, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10And they shall bear their punishment
Or iniquity; three times in this verse
—the punishment of the prophet and the punishment of the inquirer shall be alike—

Micah 3:5-7

5 Thus says the Lord concerning uthe prophets
who lead my people astray,
vwho cryPeace
when they have something to eat,
but declare war against him
who puts nothing into their mouths.
6Therefore wit shall be night to you, without vision,
and darkness to you, without divination.
xThe sun shall go down on the prophets,
and the day shall be black over them;
7 ythe seers shall be disgraced,
and the diviners put to shame;
zthey shall all cover their lips,
for aathere is no answer from God.

Zechariah 11:8

8In one month abI destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.

Zechariah 13:2
