Jeremiah 16:11-13

11then you shall say to them: aBecause your fathers have forsaken me, declares the Lord, and bhave gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, 12and because cyou have done worse than your fathers, for behold, devery one of you follows his stubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me. 13Therefore eI will hurl you out of this land into fa land that neither you nor your fathers have known, gand there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’

Jeremiah 16:19

19 hO Lord, my strength and my stronghold,
imy refuge in the day of trouble,
jto you shall the nations come
from the ends of the earth and say:
“Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies,
kworthless things in which there is no profit.

Ezekiel 18:19-20

19“Yet you say, lWhy should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done mwhat is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, nhe shall surely live. 20 oThe soul who sins shall die. pThe son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. qThe righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, rand the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Ezekiel 20:18

18“And I said to stheir children in the wilderness, 'Do not walk tin the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, unor defile yourselves with their idols.

Ezekiel 20:30

30Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: vWill you defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers and go wwhoring after their detestable things?

Malachi 3:7

7 xFrom the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. yReturn to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. zBut you say, ‘How shall we return?’

Matthew 23:29-33

29 aaWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
