The Lord Will Restore Israel

14 aTherefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when it shall no longer be said, b‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ 15but c‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel dout of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ For eI will bring them back to their own land that I gave to their fathers.

Jeremiah 23:3-8

3 fThen I will gather the remnant of my flock gout of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, hand they shall be fruitful and multiply. 4 iI will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the Lord.

5 jBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous kBranch, and lhe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6In his days Judah will be saved, and mIsrael will ndwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: o‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

7 pTherefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when they shall no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ 8but ‘As the Lord lives who brought up and led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he
Septuagint; Hebrew I
had driven them.’ Then they shall dwell in their own land.”

Jeremiah 24:5-7

5Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, rwhom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans. 6 sI will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. tI will build them up, and not tear them down; uI will plant them, and not pluck them up. 7 vI will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, wand they shall be my people xand I will be their God, yfor they shall return to me with their whole heart.

Jeremiah 30:3

Jeremiah 30:10

10 ae“Then fear not, afO Jacob my servant, declares the Lord,
nor be dismayed, O Israel;
for behold, agI will save you from far away,
ahand your offspring from the land of their captivity.
aiJacob shall return and have quiet and ease,
and none shall make him afraid.

Jeremiah 31:8-14

8Behold, I will bring them ajfrom the north country
and akgather them from althe farthest parts of the earth,
among them amthe blind and the lame,
the pregnant woman and she who is in labor, together;
a great company, they shall return here.
9 anWith weeping they shall come,
aoand with pleas for mercy I will lead them back,
I will make them apwalk by brooks of water,
aqin a straight path in which they shall not stumble,
for arI am a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is asmy firstborn.
10 Hear the word of the Lord, O nations,
and declare it in the coastlands far away;
say, ‘He who scattered Israel will atgather him,
and will keep him auas a shepherd keeps his flock.’
11 avFor the Lord has ransomed Jacob
and has redeemed him from awhands too strong for him.
12They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion,
axand they shall be radiant ayover the goodness of the Lord,
azover the grain, the wine, and the oil,
and over the young of the flock and the herd;
batheir life shall be like a watered garden,
bband they shall languish no more.
13 bcThen shall the young women rejoice in the dance,
and the young men and the old shall be merry.
bdI will turn their mourning into joy;
I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.
14 beI will feast the soul of the priests with abundance,
and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness,

declares the Lord.”

Jeremiah 32:37-44

37 bfBehold, I will gather them from all the countries bgto which I drove them in bhmy anger and my wrath and in great indignation. I will bring them back to this place, biand I will make them dwell in safety. 38 bjAnd they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 39 bkI will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, blfor their own good and the good of their children after them. 40 bmI will make with them an everlasting covenant, that I will not turn away from doing good to them. bnAnd I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me. 41 boI will rejoice in doing them good, bpand I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.

42For thus says the Lord: bqJust as I have brought all this great disaster upon this people, so I will bring upon them all the good that I promise them. 43 brFields shall be bought in this land bsof which you are saying, ‘It is a desolation, without man or beast; btit is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’ 44Fields shall be bought for money, and budeeds shall be signed and bvsealed and bwwitnessed, bxin the land of Benjamin, byin the places about Jerusalem, bzand in the cities of Judah, cain the cities of the hill country, cbin the cities of the Shephelah, and in the cities of the Negeb; for ccI will restore their fortunes, declares the Lord.”

Jeremiah 33:7-26

7 cdI will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, ceand rebuild them as they were cfat first. 8 cgI will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, chand I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me. 9 ciAnd this city
Hebrew  And it
shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them. They shall ckfear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.

10Thus says the Lord: In this place clof which you say, ‘It is a waste without man or beast,’ in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man or inhabitant or beast, there shall be heard again 11 cmthe voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing, as they bring cnthank offerings to the house of the Lord:

co“‘Give thanks to the Lord of hosts,
for the Lord is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!’
cpFor I will restore the fortunes of the land as at first, says the Lord.

12Thus says the Lord of hosts: cqIn this place that is waste, without man or beast, and in all of its cities, there shall again be crhabitations of shepherds csresting their flocks. 13 ctIn the cities of the hill country, cuin the cities of the Shephelah, cvand in the cities of the Negeb, in the land of Benjamin, cwthe places about Jerusalem, cxand in the cities of Judah, cyflocks shall again pass under the hands czof the one who counts them, says the Lord.

The Lord’s Eternal Covenant with David

14 daBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when dbI will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous dcBranch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 16In those days Judah will be saved, ddand Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: de‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

17For thus says the Lord: dfDavid shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, 18 dgand the Levitical priests shall never lack a man in my presence to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices forever.”

19The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 20 dhThus says the Lord: diIf you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, djso that day and night will not come at their appointed time, 21 dkthen also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers. 22As dlthe host of heaven cannot be numbered and dmthe sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.”

23The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 24“Have you not observed that these people are saying, ‘The Lord has rejected the two clans that he chose’? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight. 25Thus says the Lord: dnIf I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed order of heaven and earth, 26then I will reject the offspring of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his offspring to rule over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. doFor I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.”
