21 Thus says the Lord: Take care for the sake of your lives, and ^ado not bear a burden on the Sabbath day or bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem. 22 And do not carry a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath ^bor do any work, but ^ckeep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your fathers. 23 Yet ^dthey did not listen or incline their ear, ^ebut stiffened their neck, that they ^fmight not hear and receive instruction.

24 “‘But if you listen to me, declares the Lord, and ^gbring in no burden by the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but ^hkeep the Sabbath day holy and do no work on it, 25 then ⁱthere shall enter by the gates of this city kings and princes who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their officials, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city shall be inhabited forever. 26 And people shall come from ^jthe cities of Judah ^kand the places around Jerusalem, ^lfrom the land of Benjamin, ^mfrom the Shephelah, from the hill country, ⁿand from ^othe Negeb, bringing ^pburnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and frankincense, and ^qbringing thank offerings to the house of the Lord. 27 But if you do not listen to me, to ^rkeep the Sabbath day holy, ^sand not to bear a burden and enter by the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will ^tkindle a fire in its gates, and it shall ^udevour the palaces of Jerusalem and ^vshall not be quenched.’”

Ezekiel 20:12

12 Moreover, I gave them ^wmy Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, ^xthat they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

Mark 2:27

27 And he said to them, ^y“The Sabbath was made for man, ^znot man for the Sabbath.

Luke 23:56

56 Then they returned and ^aaprepared spices and ointments.

On the Sabbath they rested ^abaccording to the commandment.

Hebrews 4:4-10

4 For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: ^ac“And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” 5 And again in this passage he said,

^ad“They shall not enter my rest.”
6 Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news ^aefailed to enter because of disobedience, 7 again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,

^af“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God ^{▼▼Greek he} would not have spoken of another day later on. 9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, 10 for whoever has entered God’s rest has also ^ahrested from his works as God did from his.
