Jeremiah 2:23-25

23 ^aHow can you say, ‘I am not unclean,
I have not gone after the Baals’?
Look at your way ^bin the valley;
know what you have done—
a restless young camel running here and there,
24 ^ca wild donkey used to the wilderness,
in her heat sniffing the wind!
Who can restrain her lust?
None who seek her need weary themselves;
in her month they will find her.
25 Keep ^dyour feet from going unshod
and ^eyour throat from thirst.
But you said, ‘It is hopeless,
^ffor I have loved foreigners,
and after them I will go.’

Jeremiah 14:7-9

7 “Though our iniquities testify against us,
act, O Lord, ^gfor your name’s sake;
^hfor our backslidings are many;
ⁱwe have sinned against you.
8 ^jO you hope of Israel,
its savior in time of trouble,
why should you be like a stranger in the land,
like a traveler who turns aside to tarry for a night?
9 Why should you be like a man confused,
^klike a mighty warrior who cannot save?
Yet ^lyou, O Lord, are in the midst of us,
and ^mwe are called by your name;
ⁿdo not leave us.”
