Jeremiah 2:23-25

23 aHow can you say, ‘I am not unclean,
I have not gone after the Baals’?
Look at your way bin the valley;
know what you have done
a restless young camel running here and there,
24 ca wild donkey used to the wilderness,
in her heat sniffing the wind!
Who can restrain her lust?
None who seek her need weary themselves;
in her month they will find her.
25Keep dyour feet from going unshod
and eyour throat from thirst.
But you said, ‘It is hopeless,
ffor I have loved foreigners,
and after them I will go.’

Jeremiah 2:36

36 gHow much you go about,
changing your way!
You shall be hput to shame by Egypt
as you were put to shame by Assyria.

Jeremiah 3:1-2

Septuagint, Syriac; Hebrew Saying, “If
a man divorces his wife
and she goes from him
and becomes another man’s wife,
will he return to her?
kWould not that land be greatly polluted?
lYou have played the whore with many lovers;
and would you return to me?

declares the Lord.
2Lift up your eyes to mthe bare heights, and see!
Where have you not been ravished?
nBy the waysides you have sat awaiting lovers
like an Arab in the wilderness.
oYou have polluted the land
with your vile whoredom.

Jeremiah 8:5

5Why then has this people pturned away
in perpetual qbacksliding?
rThey hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.

Hosea 11:7

7My people are bent son turning away from me,
and though tthey call out to the Most High,
he shall not raise them up at all.

9I will not execute my burning anger;
I will not again destroy Ephraim;
ufor I am God and not a man,
vthe Holy One in your midst,
and I will not come in wrath.
