Jeremiah 2:3

3 ^aIsrael was holy to the Lord,
^bthe firstfruits of his harvest.
^cAll who ate of it incurred guilt;
disaster came upon them,

Jeremiah 2:7-8

7 ^dAnd I brought you into a plentiful land
to enjoy its fruits and its good things.
But when you came in, ^eyou defiled my land
and made my heritage an abomination.
8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
^fThose who handle the law did not know me;
^gthe shepherds ^{▼▼Or rulers} transgressed against me;
ⁱthe prophets prophesied by Baal
and went after ^jthings that do not profit.

Jeremiah 2:21-22

21 ^kYet I planted you a choice vine,
wholly of pure seed.
^lHow then have you turned degenerate
and become a wild vine?
22 Though you wash yourself with lye
and use much soap,
^mthe stain of your guilt is still before me,

declares the Lord God.
