30In vain have I astruck your children;
they took no correction;

Jeremiah 20:2

2Then cPashhur beat Jeremiah the prophet, and put him din the stocks that were in the upper eBenjamin Gate of the house of the Lord.

Jeremiah 26:20-24

20There was another man who prophesied in the name of the Lord, Uriah the son of Shemaiah from fKiriath-jearim. He prophesied against this city and against this land in words like those of Jeremiah. 21And when gKing Jehoiakim, with all his warriors and all the officials, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah heard of it, he was afraid and fled and escaped to Egypt. 22Then hKing Jehoiakim sent to Egypt certain men, iElnathan the son of jAchbor and others with him, 23and they took Uriah from Egypt and brought him to King Jehoiakim, kwho struck him down with the sword and dumped his dead body into the burial place of the common people.

24But the hand of lAhikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah so that he was not given over to the people to be put to death.

Jeremiah 29:26

26‘The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have mcharge in the house of the Lord nover every madman who prophesies, to put him in othe stocks and neck irons.

Jeremiah 37:15-16

15And the officials were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him pand imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.

16 qWhen Jeremiah had come to the dungeon cells and remained there many days,

Jeremiah 38:4-6

4Then the officials said to the king, rLet this man be put to death, sfor he is weakening the hands of the soldiers who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man is not seeking tthe welfare of this people, but their harm.” 5King Zedekiah said, “Behold, he is in your hands, ufor the king can do nothing against you.” 6So they took Jeremiah vand cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in wthe court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down xby ropes. yAnd there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and zJeremiah sank in the mud.

Matthew 23:34-37

34 aaTherefore abI send you acprophets and wise men and adscribes, aesome of whom you will kill and crucify, and afsome you will agflog in your synagogues and ahpersecute from town to town, 35so that on you may come all aithe righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous ajAbel to the blood of akZechariah the son of Barachiah,

whom you murdered between amthe sanctuary and anthe altar.
36Truly, I say to you, aoall these things will come upon this generation.
