Jeremiah 2:6-8

6 They did not say, ^a‘Where is the Lord
who brought us up from the land of Egypt,
who led us ^bin the wilderness,
in a land of deserts and pits,
in a land of drought and deep darkness,
in a land that none passes through,
where no man dwells?’
7 ^cAnd I brought you into a plentiful land
to enjoy its fruits and its good things.
But when you came in, ^dyou defiled my land
and made my heritage an abomination.
8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
^eThose who handle the law did not know me;
^fthe shepherds ^{▼▼Or rulers} transgressed against me;
^hthe prophets prophesied by Baal
and went after ⁱthings that do not profit.

Romans 9:4-5

4 They are ^jIsraelites, and to them belong ^kthe adoption, ^lthe glory, ^mthe covenants, ⁿthe giving of the law, ^othe worship, and ^pthe promises. 5 To them belong ^qthe patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, ^rwho is God over all, ^sblessed forever. Amen.
