Jeremiah Persecuted by Pashhur

1Now aPashhur the priest, the son of bImmer, who was cchief officer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. 2Then dPashhur beat Jeremiah the prophet, and put him ein the stocks that were in the upper fBenjamin Gate of the house of the Lord. 3The next day, when gPashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, “The Lord does not call your name hPashhur, but Terror on Every Side.

Jeremiah 26:16

Jeremiah Spared from Death

16 iThen the officials and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, jThis man does not deserve the sentence of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”
