Jeremiah 21:4-7
4‘Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: aBehold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands and with which you are fighting against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the walls. bAnd I will bring them together into the midst of this city. 5I myself will fight against you cwith outstretched hand and strong arm, din anger and in fury and in great wrath. 6And I will strike down the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast. They shall die of a great pestilence. 7Afterward, declares the Lord, eI will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people in this city who survive the pestilence, sword, and famine into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of their enemies, into the hand of those who seek their lives. He shall strike them down with the edge of the sword. fHe shall not pity them or spare them or have compassion.’Jeremiah 21:10
10For gI have set my face against this city for harm and hnot for good, declares the Lord: iit shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.’Jeremiah 28:8
8 jThe prophets who preceded you and me from ancient times prophesied war, famine, and pestilence against many countries and great kingdoms.Jeremiah 32:28-30
28Therefore, thus says the Lord: kBehold, I am giving this city into the hands of the Chaldeans and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall capture it. 29The Chaldeans who are fighting against this city lshall come and set this city on fire and burn it, mwith the houses on whose roofs offerings have been made to Baal nand drink offerings have been poured out to other gods, oto provoke me to anger. 30For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight pfrom their youth. The children of Israel have done nothing but qprovoke me to anger rby the work of their hands, declares the Lord.Jeremiah 34:21-22
21And sZedekiah king of Judah and his officials I will give into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their lives, into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon twhich has withdrawn from you. 22Behold, uI will command, declares the Lord, and will vbring them back to this city. wAnd they will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire. xI will make the cities of Judah a desolation ywithout inhabitant.”
