Jeremiah 21:4-7

4Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: aBehold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands and with which you are fighting against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the walls. bAnd I will bring them together into the midst of this city. 5I myself will fight against you cwith outstretched hand and strong arm, din anger and in fury and in great wrath. 6And I will strike down the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast. They shall die of a great pestilence. 7Afterward, declares the Lord, eI will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people in this city who survive the pestilence, sword, and famine into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of their enemies, into the hand of those who seek their lives. He shall strike them down with the edge of the sword. fHe shall not pity them or spare them or have compassion.’

Jeremiah 37:8

8And gthe Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city. hThey shall capture it and burn it with fire.

Jeremiah 39:1-3

The Fall of Jerusalem

1 iIn the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and besieged it. 2In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city. 3Then all jthe officials of the king of Babylon came kand sat in the middle gate: Nergal-sar-ezer of Samgar, Nebu-sar-sekim lthe Rab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the Rab-mag, with all the rest of the officers of the king of Babylon.

Jeremiah 52:4-7

4 mAnd in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came with all his army against Jerusalem, and laid siege to it. And they built siegeworks all around it. 5So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 6On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. 7Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled and went out from the city by night by the way of a gate between the two walls, by the king’s garden, and the Chaldeans were around the city. And they went in the direction of the Arabah.

Ezekiel 4:1-8

The Siege of Jerusalem Symbolized

1“And you, nson of man, otake a brick and lay it before you, and engrave on it a city, even Jerusalem. 2 pAnd put siegeworks against it, qand build a siege wall against it, rand cast up a mound against it. Set camps also against it, sand plant battering rams against it all around. 3And you, take an iron griddle, and place it as an iron wall between you and the city; tand set your face toward it, uand let it be in a state of siege, and press the siege against it. This is va sign for the house of Israel.

4Then lie on your left side, and place the punishment
Or iniquity; also verses 5, 6, 17
of the house of Israel upon it. For the number of the days that you lie on it, xyou shall bear their punishment.
5For I assign to you a number of days, y390 days, zequal to the number of the years of their punishment. aaSo long shall you bear abthe punishment of the house of Israel. 6And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and acbear adthe punishment of the house of Judah. aeForty days I assign you, a day for each year. 7 afAnd you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, agwith your arm bared, and you shall prophesy against the city. 8And behold, ahI will place cords upon you, so that you cannot turn from one side to the other, till you have completed aithe days of your siege.

Daniel 9:26

26And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall ajbe cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come akshall destroy the city and the sanctuary. alIts

Zechariah 12:2

2Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem apa cup of staggering to aqall the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem arwill also be against Judah.

Zechariah 14:2

2For asI will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and atthe city shall be taken auand the houses plundered avand the women raped. awHalf of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
