Jeremiah 23:9

Lying Prophets

9 Concerning the prophets:

^aMy heart is broken within me;
^ball my bones shake;
I am like a drunken man,
like a man overcome by wine,
because of the Lord
and because of his holy words.

Jeremiah 23:14-15

14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem
I have seen a horrible thing:
^cthey commit adultery and walk in lies;
^dthey strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that no one turns from his evil;
^eall of them have become like Sodom to me,
^fand its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”
15 Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets:
^g“Behold, I will feed them with bitter food
^hand give them ⁱpoisoned water to drink,
for from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

Jeremiah 23:25-27

25 I have heard what the prophets have said ^jwho prophesy lies in my name, saying, ^k‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ 26 How long shall there be lies in the heart of ^lthe prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy the deceit of their own heart, 27 who think to make my people forget my name ^mby their dreams that they tell one another, even as their ⁿfathers forgot my name for Baal?

Jeremiah 27:9-10

9 So ^odo not listen to your ^pprophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your ^qfortune-tellers, or your sorcerers, who are saying to you, ‘You shall not serve the king of Babylon.’ 10 ^rFor it is a lie that they are prophesying to you, with the result that you will be removed far from your land, and I will drive you out, and you will perish.

Jeremiah 27:14-15

14 ^sDo not listen to the words of the prophets who are saying to you, ‘You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ ^tfor it is a lie that they are prophesying to you. 15 I have not sent them, declares the Lord, but ^uthey are prophesying falsely in my name, with the result that I will drive you out and you will perish, you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.”

Jeremiah 28:15-16

15 And Jeremiah the prophet said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah, ^vthe Lord has not sent you, ^wand you have made this people trust in a lie. 16 Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will remove you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, ^xbecause you have uttered rebellion against the Lord.’”

Jeremiah 29:21-22

21 ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, ^ywho are prophesying a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall strike them down before your eyes. 22 ^zBecause of them ^aathis curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: “The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, ^abwhom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,”
