Jeremiah 24:1-7

The Good Figs and the Bad Figs

1 aAfter Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken into exile from Jerusalem bJeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, together with cthe officials of Judah, the craftsmen, and the metal workers, and had brought them to Babylon, the Lord showed me this vision: behold, dtwo baskets of figs placed before the temple of the Lord. 2One basket had very good figs, elike first-ripe figs, but the other basket had fvery bad figs, so bad that they could not be eaten. 3And the Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I said, “Figs, the good figs very good, and the bad figs very bad, so bad that they cannot be eaten.”

4Then the word of the Lord came to me: 5Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, gwhom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans. 6 hI will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. iI will build them up, and not tear them down; jI will plant them, and not pluck them up. 7 kI will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, land they shall be my people mand I will be their God, nfor they shall return to me with their whole heart.

Ezekiel 2:3

Ezekiel 3:17-21

17 zSon of man, aaI have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall abgive them warning from me. 18 acIf I say to the wicked, ad‘You shall surely die,’ aeand you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person afshall die for
Or in; also verses 19, 20
his iniquity, ahbut his blood I will require at your hand.
19 aiBut if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, ajbut you akwill have delivered your soul. 20 alAgain, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, amand I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. anBecause you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, aoand his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, apbut his blood I will require at your hand. 21But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”
