Faithless Israel Called to Repentance

6The Lord said to me in the days of aKing Josiah: “Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, bhow she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there cplayed the whore?

Jeremiah 3:8

8She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, dI had sent her away with ea decree of divorce. fYet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went gand played the whore.

Jeremiah 3:11-12

11And the Lord said to me, hFaithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. 12Go, and proclaim these words toward ithe north, and say,

j“‘Return, faithless Israel,

declares the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for kI am merciful,

declares the Lord;
lI will not be angry forever.

Jeremiah 3:14

14 mReturn, O faithless children,

declares the Lord;
nfor I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.

Jeremiah 3:22

22 oReturn, O faithless sons;
pI will heal your faithlessness.”
Behold, we come to you,
for you are the Lord our God.

Jeremiah 7:24

24 qBut they did not obey or incline their ear, rbut walked in their own counsels and sthe stubbornness of their evil hearts, and twent backward and not forward.

Sin and Treachery

4 “You shall say to them, Thus says the Lord:
uWhen men fall, do they not rise again?
If one turns away, does he not return?
5Why then has this people vturned away
in perpetual wbacksliding?
xThey hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.
6 yI have paid attention and listened,
but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
zlike a horse plunging headlong into battle.

Jeremiah 14:7

7 Though our iniquities testify against us,
act, O Lord, aafor your name’s sake;
abfor our backslidings are many;
acwe have sinned against you.

Jeremiah 49:4

4Why do you boast of your valleys,
Hebrew  boast of your valleys, your valley flows

aeO faithless daughter,
afwho trusted in her treasures, saying,
Who will come against me?’

Hosea 4:16

16Like a stubborn heifer,
Israel is stubborn;
can the Lord now feed them
like a lamb in a broad pasture?

Hosea 11:7

7My people are bent agon turning away from me,
and though ahthey call out to the Most High,
he shall not raise them up at all.

Hosea 14:4

4 I aiwill heal their apostasy;
ajI will love them freely,
for my anger has turned from them.
