Jeremiah 3:6-8

Faithless Israel Called to Repentance

6The Lord said to me in the days of aKing Josiah: “Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, bhow she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there cplayed the whore? 7And I thought, ‘After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return, and her treacherous dsister Judah saw it. 8She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, eI had sent her away with fa decree of divorce. gYet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went hand played the whore.

Jeremiah 3:11-14

11And the Lord said to me, iFaithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. 12Go, and proclaim these words toward jthe north, and say,

k“‘Return, faithless Israel,

declares the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for lI am merciful,

declares the Lord;
mI will not be angry forever.
13 nOnly acknowledge your guilt,
that you rebelled against the Lord your God
and scattered your favors among foreigners under oevery green tree,
and that you have not obeyed my voice,

declares the Lord.
14 pReturn, O faithless children,

declares the Lord;
qfor I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.

Jeremiah 5:6

6 Therefore ra lion from the forest shall strike them down;
a swolf from the desert shall devastate them.
tA leopard is watching their cities;
everyone who goes out of them shall be torn in pieces,
because their transgressions are many,
their uapostasies are great.

Jeremiah 8:5

5Why then has this people vturned away
in perpetual wbacksliding?
xThey hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.

Hosea 4:16

16Like a stubborn heifer,
Israel is stubborn;
can the Lord now feed them
like a lamb in a broad pasture?

Hosea 11:7

7My people are bent yon turning away from me,
and though zthey call out to the Most High,
he shall not raise them up at all.
