Jeremiah 30:5-7

5 Thus says the Lord:
We have heard a cry of panic,
of terror, and no peace.
6Ask now, and see,
can a man bear a child?
aWhy then do I see every man
with his hands on his stomach blike a woman in labor?
cWhy has every face turned pale?
7Alas! dThat day is so great
ethere is none like it;
it is a time of distress for Jacob;
yet he shall be saved out of it.

Joel 2:1-3

The Day of the Lord

1 fBlow a trumpet in gZion;
sound an alarm on hmy holy mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,
for ithe day of the Lord is coming; it is near,
2 ja day of darkness and gloom,
ka day of clouds and thick darkness!
Like blackness there is spread upon the mountains
la great and powerful people;
mtheir like has never been before,
nor will be again after them
through the years of all generations.
3 nFire devours before them,
and behind them a flame burns.
The land is like othe garden of Eden before them,
but pbehind them a desolate wilderness,
and nothing escapes them.

Joel 2:11

11 qThe Lord utters his voice
before rhis army,
for his camp is exceedingly great;
she who executes his word is powerful.
tFor the day of the Lord is ugreat and very awesome;
vwho can endure it?

Amos 5:18-20

Let Justice Roll Down

18 Woe to you who desire wthe day of the Lord!
Why would you have the day of the Lord?
xIt is darkness, and not light,
19 yas if a man fled from a lion,
and a bear met him,
or went into the house and leaned his hand against the wall,
and a serpent bit him.
20 zIs not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light,
and gloom with no brightness in it?

Zephaniah 1:18

18 aaNeither their silver nor their gold
shall be able to deliver them
on the day of the wrath of the Lord.
abIn the fire of his jealousy,
acall the earth shall be consumed;
adfor a full and sudden end
he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth.
