Hosea 7:9-16

9 fStrangers devour his strength,
and ghe knows it not;
gray hairs are sprinkled upon him,
and hhe knows it not.
10 iThe pride of Israel testifies to his face;
Or in his presence

kyet they do not return to the Lord their God,
nor seek him, for all this.
11 Ephraim is like a dove,
lsilly and without sense,
calling to mEgypt, going to nAssyria.
12As they go, oI will spread over them my net;
I will bring them down like birds of the heavens;
pI will discipline them qaccording to the report made to their congregation.
13 rWoe to them, for they have strayed from me!
Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against me!
sI would redeem them,
but tthey speak lies against me.
14 uThey do not cry to me from the heart,
but vthey wail upon their beds;
for grain and wine they gash themselves;
they rebel against me.
15Although wI trained and strengthened their arms,
yet they devise evil against me.
16They xreturn, but not upward;
Or to the Most High

they are zlike a treacherous bow;
their princes shall fall by the sword
because of aathe insolence of their tongue.
This shall be their derision abin the land of Egypt.

apyet you did not return to me,”

11 “I overthrew some of you,
aqas when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
and you were aras a brand
That is,  a burning stick
plucked out of the burning;
atyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
12 Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel;
because I will do this to you,
prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”
