Jeremiah 31:31-37

The New Covenant

31 aBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make ba new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when cI took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, dthough I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33 eFor this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: fI will put my law within them, and I will write it gon their hearts. hAnd I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ ifor they shall all know me, jfrom the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For kI will forgive their iniquity, and lI will remember their sin no more.”

35 Thus says the Lord,
who mgives the sun for light by day
and nthe fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar
othe Lord of hosts is his name:
36 pIf this fixed order departs
from before me, declares the Lord,
then shall the offspring of Israel cease
from being a nation before me forever.”
37 Thus says the Lord:
If the heavens above can be measured,
and the foundations of the earth below can be explored,
qthen I will cast off all the offspring of Israel
for all that they have done,

declares the Lord.”

Jeremiah 32:40

40 rI will make with them an everlasting covenant, that I will not turn away from doing good to them. sAnd I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me.

Jeremiah 50:4-5

4 t“In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, uthe people of Israel and the people of Judah shall come together, vweeping as they come, and they wshall seek the Lord their God. 5 xThey shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, ysaying, ‘Come, let us join ourselves to the Lord in an zeverlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.’

Hebrews 8:8-13

8For he finds fault with them when he says:
Some manuscripts  For finding fault with it he says to them

abBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah,
9not like the covenant that I made with their fathers
on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt.
For they did not continue in my covenant,
and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.
10 acFor this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws into their minds,
and adwrite them on their hearts,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
11And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor
and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
for they shall aeall know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,
afand I will remember their sins no more.”
13In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And agwhat is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
