Jeremiah 34:13-17

13Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I myself made a covenant with your fathers when cI brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, saying, 14 d‘At the end of seven years each of you must set free the fellow Hebrew who has been sold to you and has served you six years; eyou must set him free from your service.’ But fyour fathers did not listen to me or incline their ears to me. 15You recently repented and did what was right in my eyes gby proclaiming liberty, each to his neighbor, and hyou made a covenant before me in the ihouse that is called by my name, 16but then you turned around jand profaned my name when each of you took back his male and female slaves, kwhom you had set free according to their desire, and you brought them into subjection to be your slaves.

17Therefore, thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed me lby proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and to his neighbor; mbehold, I proclaim to you liberty nto the sword, to pestilence, and to famine, declares the Lord. oI will make you a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

Zechariah 9:11-12

11As for you also, because of pthe blood of my covenant with you,
qI will set your prisoners free from rthe waterless pit.
12Return to your stronghold, O sprisoners of hope;
today I declare that tI will restore to you double.

32and you will amknow the truth, and the truth anwill set you free.” 33They answered him, ao“We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”

35 arThe slave does not remain in the house forever; asthe son remains forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
