Jeremiah 36:29-32

29And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Thus says the Lord, You have burned this scroll, saying, aWhy have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cut off from it man and beast?” 30Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: bHe shall have none cto sit on the throne of David, dand his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day and the frost by night. 31 eAnd I will punish him and his offspring and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the people of Judah all the disaster that I have pronounced against them, but they would not hear.’”

32Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to fBaruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who gwrote on it at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.

Ezekiel 9:4

4And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and hput a mark on the foreheads of the men who isigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”

Romans 2:4-5

4Or do you presume on jthe riches of his kindness and kforbearance and lpatience, mnot knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are nstoring up owrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

James 4:6-10

6But phe gives more grace. Therefore it says, qGod opposes the proud but rgives grace to the humble.” 7Submit yourselves therefore to God. sResist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 tDraw near to God, and he will draw near to you. uCleanse your hands, you sinners, and vpurify your hearts, wyou double-minded. 9 xBe wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 yHumble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
