Jeremiah 37:14-16

14And Jeremiah said, “It is a lie; I am not deserting to the Chaldeans.” But Irijah would not listen to him, and seized Jeremiah and brought him to athe officials. 15And the officials were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him band imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.

16 cWhen Jeremiah had come to the dungeon cells and remained there many days,

Jeremiah 38:4-6

4Then the officials said to the king, dLet this man be put to death, efor he is weakening the hands of the soldiers who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man is not seeking fthe welfare of this people, but their harm.” 5King Zedekiah said, “Behold, he is in your hands, gfor the king can do nothing against you.” 6So they took Jeremiah hand cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in ithe court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down jby ropes. kAnd there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and lJeremiah sank in the mud.

Ezekiel 22:25-30

25 mThe conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is nlike a roaring lion otearing the prey; they have devoured human lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst. 26 pHer priests qhave done violence to my law and rhave profaned my holy things. sThey have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and tthey have disregarded my Sabbaths, uso that I am profaned among them. 27 vHer princes in her midst are like wolves wtearing the prey, xshedding blood, destroying lives to get dishonest gain. 28And yher prophets have smeared whitewash for them, zseeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken. 29The people of the land aahave practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and abhave extorted from the sojourner without justice. 30 acAnd I sought for a man among them adwho should build up the wall aeand stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

Hosea 10:4

4They utter afmere words;
with empty oaths they make covenants;
so agjudgment springs up like poisonous weeds
ahin the furrows of the field.

Amos 5:7

7O aiyou who turn justice to wormwood
Or  to bitter fruit

and cast down righteousness to the earth!

Amos 5:12

12For I know how many are your transgressions
and how great are your sins
you who afflict the righteous, who aktake a bribe,

Woe to the Oppressors
