Jeremiah 4:11-15

11At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind from athe bare heights in the desert toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow or cleanse, 12a wind too full for this comes for me. Now it is I who bspeak in judgment upon them.”

13 Behold, he comes up like clouds;
chis chariots like the whirlwind;
his horses are dswifter than eagles
woe to us, efor we are ruined!
14O Jerusalem, fwash your heart from evil,
that you may be saved.
How long shall your wicked thoughts
lodge within you?
15For a voice gdeclares from Dan
and proclaims trouble from hMount Ephraim.

Jeremiah 9:19-21

19For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion:
iHow we are ruined!
We are utterly shamed,
because we have left the land,
because they have cast down our dwellings.’”
20 Hear, O women, the word of the Lord,
and let your ear receive the word of his mouth;
teach to your daughters a lament,
and each to her neighbor a dirge.
21For death has come up into our windows;
it has entered our palaces,
jcutting off the children from the streets
and the young men from the squares.
